Anish Kapoor

website:

Hello, I am Anish Kapoor, a British-Indian artist known for my conceptual sculptures and installations that explore deep philosophical themes like voids, the infinite, and the dynamics of presence and absence. Born in Mumbai in 1954, I have been living and working in London since the early 1970s, where I studied art at the Hornsey College of Art and the Chelsea School of Art and Design. My work often employs materials that both mirror and distort the world around them, creating engaging, often immersive experiences. Notable works like "Cloud Gate" in Chicago have not only showcased my fascination with form and reflection but have also invited public interaction in ways that blur the boundaries between the art object and the viewer. My art has been recognized globally with numerous awards, including the prestigious Turner Prize in 1991. My endeavors in the art world are driven by a curiosity about the universe and our place within it, consistently pushing the boundaries of contemporary art to invite both introspection and dialogue.
